Mango Lollipops

I attempted to make this (cuz I thought it was all easy and stuff...) -


And I ended up with this (cuz it's actually very hard to melt chocolate nicely and coat the mango piece nicely!) -

The recipe -

10 mangoes cut into half inch cubes
2 oz. chocolate, melted.
1 T mint oil
10 mint leaves
10 skewers
1. Melt chocolate, add mint oil.
2. Dip mango half way in chocolate.
3. Serve on skewer.

Doesn't sound all that hard, right? Wrong! For some unknown reason, my chocolate didn't melt as nicely and liquidy, making my dipping a hard task. Next time!

有D人真係好偏激, 偏激得很癲. 每個人都有自己既唸法, 我明, 我真係明架. 但係下下攞出來嚇人就係你唔'安'啦. 今次北京奧運簡直係中美大戰, 係一場鬧劇, 兩邊都好失禮. 好心啦, 世界盛事搞到甘, 大唔透咩.

先講講中國. 人地朗平身為美國女排教練開記招講幾句英文就俾人鬧餐矇既, 話忘本藐視中國喔. 洗唔洗啊, 甘來上網上線, 人邊有唸甘多喔, 唸到乜咪講乜嘍, 都係想方便大家聽得明姐. 重有, 人地劉翔受傷跑唔到, 甘都可以俾人鬧做 show. 有看電視都知啦, 人地都好想跑架, 邊個唔想攞金牌啊. 人地都盡左力, 算係甘啦. 依家中國都係金牌榜首位啦, 重有乜好爭, 大方D, 要有大國既風範.

再來講美國. 甘既大國都有D無聊人出來獻醜就唔'安'啦. 程菲跳馬跪左落地, 得左個銅牌, 美國從nbc解說員到街邊 blog 都話D 評判偏心, 鬧中國"又" 作假. D 人講話好無道理, 明明新例係難度加比分, 跳兩次取平均分. 程菲第一跳 16點幾分, 第二跳出錯評判俾8 再加難度6 點幾得出 15 無問題喔. 你sacarmone 難度系數低攞唔到牌怨不得人啦. 高低槓又係, 評分系統係IOC 定既, 有唔係中國自己玩晒, 甘都可以鬧人地澳洲評判唔係俾分. 俾我話, 金牌應該俾我地廣東既依林妹妹! 當全世界都用金牌論榜既時候, 得 NBC 用獎牌總數排榜. 美國好無大將之風, 成個輸唔起. 失望.

Restaurant Reviews

Waterfront Restaurant - Pier 7, SF (**)
Food
clam chowder - not bad, nothing to write home about. there was the smoked bacon, but where are the clams?
Braised beef short ribs - big portion, lots of meat and mashed potato. meat was ok tender, but not the best tasting
grilled halibut with side of crab mashed potato - the piece of fish was tiny, the greens were 2 stingy pieces of something, the mashed potato had no crab but lots of garlic
chocolate fondant - best dish of the night, a piece of chocolatey cake without any flour

Overall
If you like the view, try it. Otherwise, don't expect a good tasting meal out of this place. Service was inattentive and not justifiable for the price you're paying. As for seafood. What kind of seafood restaurant would neglect to put seafood on the DAT menu?! Not worth it.

Frisee - Castro & Market, SF (****)

Appetizers
dungeness cakes - 3 small-ish fried crab cakes FULL of crab meat, without a lot of artificial flavors
ceviche cups - 2 small crispy taco-like pastry cups holding bits of shrimp ceviche (don't add any lemon before you try it though, might be too tarty)

Entrees
grass-fed fillet mignon - meat was a bit over-cooked for us, but loved the blue cheese crust that's not overpowering in taste, side of mushroom "ratatouille" is very tasty and goes perfectly with the mashed potato
chutney stuffed pork loin - very tender, cranberry chutney stuffing fits the taste of the whole plate quite well, mashed sweet potato is a nice change from the usual, warm salad on the side is very tasty

Desserts
chocolat pot de creme - the favorite of the night! even for LP, who usually don't like desserts, liked this. tasted like a little cup of chocolate creme brulee, with strawberry syrup on the side
pineapple upside down cake - tasted like moisten scone, with creme fraiche on the side, can't say it's my favorite

Overall
Good service. Place a bit cramped and small. Decor much like a regular diner than an upscale one. Used great ingredients, all fresh and seems to be organic (even the wine). Price is reasonable for the quality of the food. Tastes is above average, you can tell the chef cared about each of the dishes. Prefer a better selection for dessert though.

覺得係時候寫返 D 野了. 日子過得渾渾噩噩, 唔留返 D 紀念就會乜都唔記得. 唸唸吓又唔知寫乜好, 好悶, 好眼訓. 老細重响到, 未走得, 就算走得都唔知去邊啦, 等緊 7 點幾吃飯. 啦 啦 啦....

講吓點解要用廣東話了, 就係因為 facebook. 成個 team 既同事都 link 一齊, 用英文好容易有誤會. 唔通大大聲話想升職加人工跳槽咩. 不過最近先做完自我反省, 真係講到明想升職加人工架. 無奈, 重係無得加/升, 唉...等, 又再等, 等又再等, 偏等你不到...

講吓最近 D 大事啦...512 四川大地震 - 好可憐, 好慘好慘, 遇難既人好慘, 獨自留落來既人亦都好慘. 見到 D 毫不關心完全冷漠 D 人, 覺得好心寒, 特別個 D 甘既時候重貪污既人覺得佢地好卑鄙好賤格間直係人渣!! 美國傳媒報導係少之又少, 中國網上D 相張張都好似催淚彈甘, 令人好 depress...啊, 前兩日我既外甥女(?) 出左世, 不過未見過. 今年生 BB 既人好似特別多, 結婚又係. 下半年有成 4 個婚禮要參加, 係到考慮緊係唔係 decline 一兩個...話時話, 上個月我都算結婚兩年啦, 時間過得真係快. 我地乜都無做, 淨係去左 Scharffen Berger 既朱古力廠行左吓, 然後去 Chez Panisse 吃左餐, 完全不浪漫, 不過無哎交算係甘啦.

今日又要去吃大餐了, 下次再寫啦.
